Ford Celebrates International Day of Peace!
Please send your child to school wearing white or “peace sign” shirts Monday.
International Day of Peace is celebrated each September 21st in the Montessori
community across the globe. We take this day to express to the world that age
has no boundaries in creating a peaceful nation. We invite you to be a part of
this inspiring event!
HERO Comes to John E. Ford!
HERO is a mobile app that alerts you of all the great choices your child makes
each day. Teachers and administrators will recognize students throughout the
day and you are tuned in immediately. Please email our dean, Mrs. Wright at
mayhewd@duvalschools.org or call her at 630-6540 to receive your unique i.d.
to download this app. 
Thank You for Participating in Open House Nights!
Your participation strengthens our ability to provide educational excellence
each and every day. Don’t forget to sign up for a Focus account so you can
receive all access to your child’s grades, attendance, and weekly newsletters.
We Still Have Open Spots for Dance and Theatre!
If you have a child in grades 2-6 and has an interest in dance, please sign up!
The program is $15 and children participate through spring. Please pick up a
lottery slip in the office or call us at 630-6540 to send a form home through
your child. The schedule is as follows:
Monday/Friday – grades 2 and 3; 3:15-4:15pm
Monday/Friday – grades 4 thru 6; 4:15-5:15pm
You will be notified if you have been accepted via telephone.
Theatre is an AMAZING opportunity for our middle school students. They will
learn about the many aspects of theatre and stage. I really hope you take
advantage of this opportunity for your child. The schedule is:
Tuesday/Thursday – grades 6 through 8; 3:00-5:00pm
Birthday Celebrations (elementary grades)
In the Montessori environment, the timeline of life is a beautiful ceremony
celebrating the life of a child. For this reason, do not feel compelled to bring
cupcakes and party favors to class. If you would like to arrange a special
snack of mini muffins or fruit kabobs or fresh fruit, please communicate with
your child’s teacher on a day to hold this special celebration. As one of the
district’s eleven wellness schools, we promote healthy alternatives daily.
The “Candle Walk” ceremony is a beautiful occasion celebrating your child’s
life. As your child’s birthday nears, your teacher will send home a packet for
you to complete if you wish your child to take part. You are also welcome to
serve as narrator in the classroom as long as you have completed a volunteer
application, as part of the Jessica Lunsford Act.
In Partnership,
Paula Renfro
