Mrs. Moody’s Classroom Rules and Procedures
I. Introduction:
A. Rules and procedures are necessary in life. We follow rules and procedures in our daily lives for such things as
starting and driving a car, purchasing an item from the store, etc. There are also rules and procedures in this
classroom. These rules and procedures guarantee a positive atmosphere in the classroom and contribute to a
positive learning environment for everyone.
II. Procedures for Entering the Classroom:
A. There is a specific way I want you to enter the classroom. I expect you to follow these procedures:
1. You are not to stand or wait around in the hallway.
2. Enter the classroom quietly without running or pushing.
3. Take your assigned seat.
4. Complete the Bellwork assignment from the board.
5. Work quietly and be yourself.
7. Wait for further instruction from the teacher.
III. If You Are Tardy:
A. You are late to class if you are not inside the classroom when the bell
rings. If you are late to class you must:
1. Go to the office and obtain a tardy slip.
2. Come back to class and enter the room as quietly as possible.
3. Take your assigned seat.
4. Complete the Bellwork assignment and sit quietly for further
instruction.
B. Consequences for Tardiness:
1. See WMS Handbook for rules and consequences.
IV. If you are Absent:
A. It is your responsibility to obtain missed assignments from the
teacher.
B. Missed assignments or tests need to be made up in a timely manner –
1 day for each day missed.
V. Turning in Assignments:
A. The teacher will collect assignments daily. You will place the
assignments in the basket on the teachers desk. Make sure all work
has your full name, period number and date. This information should
be on the top right of the paper.
VI. Getting Your Attention:
A. When I need to gain everyone’s undivided attention for directions,
explanations, answer questions, etc. or if the noise level gets to loud.
I will need for everyone to stop talking and pay attention to me:
I will say “Class, your attention please” and raise my hand.
When you see me raise my hand you must:
1. Raise your hand and keep it up until I put mine down.
2. Stop talking and look at me.
3. Wait for me to speak.
This procedure should take us no more than 10 seconds.
VII. Procedure for the End of Class and Class Dismissal:
Right before the bell rings everyone should be:
1. In assigned seat.
2. Be quiet.
3. Gather all materials.
4. Check the floor and pick up trash.
5. Wait for the teacher to dismiss class.
VIII. When We Have a Visitor:
A. When someone enters our classroom who is not part of our class(ex.
teacher, administrator, student, parent) you are expected to follow
the same classroom rules and procedures. You are expected to be
polite to the visitor. Do not talk to the visitor unless he/she is
talking directly to you. Continue working on your assignment as usual.
B. If the visitor needs to speak to me privately, I expect you to remain
in your seat without talking until I finish speaking with the visitor.
IX. Classroom Rules:
A. Classroom rules are posted in the classroom. Let’s quickly review what
each rule means.
1. Have all appropriate material and supplies (ex. pencil, paper, etc.) at
your desk and be in your seat when the bell rings. (This means you are
to be sitting in your desk when the bell rings with your books, paper,
and pencils and be ready to start on Bellwork.)
2. Follow directions the first time given. Ask for clarification when
needed. (This means that you do whatever the teacher tells you do to
without complaining or arguing. For example, go back to seat, copy
from board, stop talking, etc. If you don’t understand the directions
then please raise your hand and ask.)
3. Complete all assignments and do your own work. (This means that you
are responsible for doing all required work that is assigned. You are to
complete the assignments by yourself. If you need help ask me. I
don’t want you copying from your friends. In order for you to learn
you must be able to understand the assignment and be able to
complete the work by yourself.)
4. Stay seated unless you have permission to get up. (This means do not
leave your desk unless you have raised your hand and asked the
teacher for permission to get up from your desk.)
5. Respect all individuals and classroom equipment. (You respect the
teacher when you do what is asked, don’t talk back, do not touch
property without permission, and follow all classroom rules and
procedures. You respect your classmates when you follow classroom
rules and procedures.)
6. Follow all rules of the WMS Handbook. (This means you are required to
follow all rules in the handbook.)
