A huge thank-you
The total raised for the children’s cancer charity CLIC, through wearing a wig to school and also
through your very kind donations for the tea after Maypole dancing, was a massive £266.00!!
We are very grateful to you all for supporting the children’s chosen charity in this way.
REMINDER: School closed to children next Wednesday, the 17 th June
Each year the school has an INSET day in June to review the progress of our school improvement plan
and to agree the priorities for the coming year. ALL members of staff, as well as the Chair of
Governors, are involved in this review. NO CHILDREN in school on this day. Thank you.
Paperwork from new parents evening
Thank you to all our current families (and new families if they are reading this on the website!) who
came to our ‘New Parents evening’ on Wednesday. Mrs Walsh has kindly put a copy of our handwriting
scheme and the actions for the Jolly Phonics sounds on the website as I know how tricky it is to keep
track of pieces of paper.
Year One Topic Homework
In each Year One pupil’s bag tonight you will find a letter from Mrs Holman clearly explaining the
expectations of the project your child has selected to research. There are some dates when these
projects have to come into school for checking – please do ask your child to hand you this important
document. Thank you.
Second Hand Uniform
We will be holding a second hand uniform sale on Wednesday 24 th June. When looking at the uniform we
have lots of trousers, pinafore dresses, summer dresses and polo shirts. We don’t have sweatshirts or
PE kit such as shorts, yellow T-shirts, track suit trousers. If your child has outgrown these and they
are in good condition we would be really delighted to receive them before the 24th. Thank you.
Anne will be placing an order for new uniform in early July: if you think you need any more uniform for
your child for September please will you make sure you put in an order form by end of school on
WEDNESDAY 1st July. Thank you.

Phonic Screening Test
All Year One pupils will take the National phonics screening test next week. This takes place on an
individual basis: is not at all threatening but just sees the child sitting with a teacher reading a list of
words, some real words and some ‘alien’ words. The purpose of this is to report to the government on
the phonic knowledge of our pupils: we already have this knowledge in school and our on-going
assessment of children’s knowledge informs our daily planning. All parents of pupils in Year One will
receive information about their child’s attainment in this particular way of testing phonics with the
annual report.
Class Photos and Year Two Leavers Photos
On Thursday 18th June (next Thursday) Tempest Photographers will be in school to take our year group
photos and also to take photos of the Year Two Leavers. Clean white polo shirts on that morning would
be appreciated!
Finally, I would just like to thank everyone who is currently working tremendously hard to ensure that
we have a successful day tomorrow at our Summer Fayre. Our pupils are extraordinarily fortunate to
have such a committed band of parents and members of the local community who raise funds to allow
them to have such a rich, educational experience. Friends of Kimble last year contributed over £6,900
towards equipment for our children – a truly astonishing sum of money considering we are such a small
school. I look forward to seeing you and your family and friends tomorrow.
