NMS February News – Mrs. Parry and Mr. Reigle – GO DRAGONS!
1. The second payment for the Philadelphia/Washington D.C. Trip is due on Friday, February 7 th. We
pushed it back from February 3rd due to the calamity days.
2. The second payment for Camp Fitch is due between Monday, February 3rd and Friday, March 14th. This
is the final payment of two $65.00 installments.
3. We will be hosting a fifth/sixth grade girls’ basketball tournament the weekend of February 21 st –
February 23rd. We would like to thank our Academic Booster officers, coaches, parents, student-athletes,
and members of the community for their support of our boys’ tournament which concludes on Sunday,
February 2nd. This is the second biggest fundraiser that we have at NMS.
4. We will have a pep rally on Monday, February 3rd to honor our boys and girls basketball teams, Prep
Bowl teams, Spelling Bee champ and runner-up, Yearbook staff, cheerleaders, and Art Gold and Silver Key
winners.
5. High School guidance counselors Mrs. Klem and Mrs. Strollo, along with NMS guidance counselor
Mrs. Raptis, will be talking with our eighth graders on Tuesday, February 4 th about high school scheduling.
On Thursday, February 6th, our guidance counselors will host an incoming freshman parent/guardian
meeting at the high school auditorium. The time will be from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday,
February 11th, the eighth grade staff/eighth grade class and Mrs. Raptis will take a one hour field trip to the
high school for a program. On Wednesday, February 12th, student schedules will be submitted to the high
school and are due to Mrs. Raptis. Any questions about the eighth grade transition program to the high
school can be referred to Mrs. Raptis at 330-652-5656.
6. Please remember to call the school when your child is off due to illness or any other matter. If you
forget to call, please send your child in with a note when they return to school. We appreciate your help
with this.
7. Our NMS girls and boys basketball teams will conclude the regular season on Monday, February 3rd.
The girls are home versus Struthers and the boys are on the road at Struthers. Home games have a 5:00
p.m. start time for the seventh grade and 6:00 p.m. start time for the eighth grade. The junior high boys and
girls tournament will begin on Saturday, February 8 th. Times and locations have not been determined yet.
8. Our next PANDA club meetings are Thursday, February 13 th and Thursday, February 27th. They are
held after school in room 605 from 2:50 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Any student in grades 6-8 can join PANDA.
9. Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, February 13 th from 3:45 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. Please send
in your conference request times to the office by Monday, February 3 rd at the latest.
10. There will be no school on Friday, February 14th and Monday, February 17th. February 17th is
Presidents’ Day.
11. We will have an OAA after school intervention program for students in need from February 18 th –
April 10th. Intervention will be in reading and math only. An informational letter for those who qualify for
intervention will be sent home next week.
12. Mid term grades will be send out on Friday, February 21 st.
13. The Trumbull County Spelling Bee is on Wednesday, February 26 th. Seventh grader Cameron Butler
will be representing our school in the Spelling Bee. Good luck Cameron!
14. The eighth grade band concert will be at the high school on Thursday, February 27 th at 6:30 p.m.
