Dear Parents,
School Improvement Plan 2012-13
This document outlines the work of the school during the last school year and describes our future
plans for the coming year. We are always working on new developments at Balmedie and we are keen
to share these with our parents. It is well worth reading. I have attached a copy for you.
Big Writing and Supporting Literacy Curricular Night – A reminder Thurs. 4th October
Our teachers and pupils have been busy planning an informative and enjoyable evening for you. You
will learn all about Big Writing and how we support our young learners in their writing. Please come
along to this important event. If you haven't already notified us, then please do so below so that
appropriate seating can be arranged.
Car parking and Traffic Congestion
Some parents are still not using 4 bay school drop off zone correctly. No waiting at all is permitted here,
as at airports. When you drop off children to the nursery or school, parents cannot leave their car. To
ensure the safety of all the children please park your car as far away from the school as possible.
CD and tape player request
If you have any old CD players with an audio tape player, in good working condition, we would be
grateful to receive them. Thank you.
Dates for your diary
Big Writing Curricular Night - Thursday 4th October at 7-8.30pm (all welcome)
PTA Halloween Disco - 31st October
P1-3 6.00 -7.15pm, P4-7 7.30 – 8.45pm in the school gym hall.
This was a popular and fun event last year. Please request tickets using the return slip below. Thank
you to our PTA for organising this event.
Parents Nights
Wednesday, 7th November 4 - 6 pm and Thursday, 8th November 6 - 9pm
We have 2 parents’ nights at school during the school year. One in November and the other in May. This
one follows the issue of school reports in April. Please complete the appointment preference and return
to school by Friday, 5th October. Thank you.
Parent Council Meeting – Thursday, 1st November at 7pm
PTA Race Night at Whitehorse Inn – Sat. 10th November Details to follow from the PTA.
Finally, we are nearing the end of another term - Friday 12th October is fast approaching. School opens
again after the holidays on Monday 29th October.
