ABC’s/Phonemic Awareness
This week students we will study
multi-syllable words.
Word Wall Words & Spelling
Our spelling words this week is: tail,
even, reach, queen, fear, gave,
acorn, say, sweet, and player.
Challenge Word- underneath,
always, depend, wait, and sneeze.
We will have our test over all of these
words Thursday. Please have your
student practice these words at
home. We don’t spend a lot of
instructional time on this during the
week. Second grade students are
expected to be practice their spelling
tests at home as homework. Our
WWW for this week are: together,
only, hold, cold, and front.
Math
This week, we will begin our
topic on place value to 100. Students
will learn how to model tens and
ones, use symbols to compare
numbers, and count to 100.
Reading
This week we will be reading
Ants, by Rebecca Stefoff. We will
learn how to identify the author’s
purpose for writing the text. We will
also identify the main idea and
supporting details in a text.
Writing Workshop
We are beginning our
informational writing unit. In
this unit we will learn how
scientist write. Writing is the
overall favorite subject in Room
118.
Homework
Students will continue to have
homework nearly every night. Please
practice spelling words nightly.
