Junior High Academic Contracts 2009-2010
This contract is for all Junior High students at The Academy. The items listed below are expected of all students
whether signed by parents/guardians or not. If the below are not adhered to, a personal academic contract for the
individual student will be created and issued for the student.
There are three parties involved in the education of each child: the school, the student, and the parent/guardian. This
academic contract is designed to detail what the three parties at The Academy are responsible for during the academic
year. The signed Academic Contracts will remain on file for the school year to reinforce that parents and students have
read and understand the items mentioned below.

The SCHOOL will do the following items:
1. Send home weekly progress reports via email from each of the student’s teachers. If there is no email available,
teachers will print out a progress report and give to the student in class.
2. Provide ROAR (Reinforcement of Academic Responsibility) once a week for all students to get extra help or to
make up tests, quizzes, or assignments. ROAR will be in one of the junior high teacher’s classrooms for one
hour after school. The student must show up promptly at 3:15 and is required to stay until 4:15. Students will
not be allowed to enter tardy and they are required to stay for the entire hour.
3. Due to the requirement of a planner in all classes, The Academy will provide one planner/calendar to all junior
high students for free. If a student misplaces their planner the replacement cost at school will be $5.00, or the
student must replace with a similar planner or calendar. A regular notebook will not be accepted.
4. Update teacher websites weekly with assignments, due dates, and policies.
The STUDENT will do the following items:
1. Approach teachers for absent or missing work at appropriate times (either before or after class). The
information will also be available on the teacher’s website.
2. For the core classes, fill in and have parents sign planners daily. Planners will be checked in classes for part of
their Prep Points.
3. Check teacher’s websites for assignments, due dates, and policies.
4. Take responsibility of their learning…if they need to attend ROAR, take the initiative and do so or talk with
teachers to set up a meeting time.
5. Practice and live the Core Values of The Academy: courage, self control, respect, responsibility, integrity, and
kindness.
6. Read and follow the syllabuses distributed at the beginning of the school year.
The PARENT/GUARDIAN will do the following:
1. Encourage and help kids at home as the starting point for their academic success.
2. Set up meeting times 24 hours in advance by phone or email with teachers and administrators. If this is not
followed, teachers and administrators reserve the right to refuse the requested meeting.
3. Initial planners daily to see that assignments are written and completed for the core classes.
4. Check the teacher’s websites for assignments, due dates, and policies.
5. Contract Sandra Voss at extension 148 with email or contact information changes.
6. Read and understand the syllabuses distributed at the beginning of the school year.
7. Keep updated for school happenings by way of the monthly Wildcat Pause.
