NUMA-CIC (pronounced “numa-kick”) NUMAScale Cache-coherent Inter-Connect for exascale clusters Proposal PRACE WP9 – Emerging Technologies Prototype Hans Eide, PhD. USIT Research Computing Services Group. Return of the SMP system, affordable and scalable this time • • A break-through design allows low latency, scalable, directory based Cache Coherent Shared Memory interconnect of high volume manufactured server boards, to be used as building blocks for systems with features that are only found in the high-end enterprise capability systems. The proposal is to build a proof-of-concept prototype resource based on this emerging technology for PRACE WP9. Key objectives • • To deploy a prototype cluster comprising both distributed-memory and system-wide cache-coherent large shared memory (multiple TeraBytes) based on NumaConnect technology. The prototype will offer message passing as well as seamless scaling with the shared memory programming paradigm It exists, today!
