Extra Curricular Activity
Participation by our departmental student’s in sports & cultural programmes.
A good number of our departmental students are very much enthusiastic participating in different cultural
function, games sports, social awareness activities etc. organized by college, student Union, women cell, NSS
and the Department.
Magazine published by our department.
Our departmental students with their own initiative publish a wall magazine named “USASHI” at a
regular interval. Departmental teachers always encourage our students to participate in Wall magazine
through giving poems, stories, features, design etc. Through the Wall Magazine, we also try to
enhance the students’ awareness to environment pollution, changing scenario of the Global economy,
social evils etc.
Our Strengths
1. Students who get admitted in the Hons course acquire very good marks.
2. The faculty is academically as strong with 50% PhD. Degree.
3. The faculty has to its credit a good number of publications.
4. Departmental Library with latest Books.
5. Good relationship between Teacher and students.
6. A Good number of our successful students are take admission in post graduate courses in different
University of West Bengal in each year.
7. Our students are very much enthusiastic participating in different programmes on sports, cultural function,
social awareness activities, etc.
8. Our dept. has a Book Bank for needy student.
9. Though department have no systematic record still our pass out student are employed in various school,
college and in other field.
Our Weaknesses
1. Though students of our department come with good academic record, most of them are from economically
poor families, so they discontinue the studies for various family problems and diseases.
2. Due to huge number of students in the class and absence of microphone, lecture delivered do not reach the
back-benchers of the class.
3. Insufficient Teaching faculty is another weakness of our department.
Department’s future plan:Give special attention to 3rd year students so that the number of 1st class in final year should be
increased.
Use projector in classrooms.
Organise Question answer work shop.
Distribution of module of each paper to the students.
Organise Birthday celebration of Rabindranath Tagore in every year.
Organise more Seminars and educational tours.
Classes taken by Student’s of our department in every “Teacher’s Day”(5 th Sept).
Our Challenges:Though students of the department come with good academic record, most of them are from
economically poor families, so they discontinue the studies for various family problems and
diseases. It is our challenge to taking various steps such as established well relation with our
student; arrange special classes for back student etc, so that they realize that they have to work hard
if they want to build good academic career and department is always with them for solving their
problem.
