Function of Culture Culture holds people together Culture provides continuity Culture creates community Elements That Sustain Culture Common values Code of conventions Identified purpose Unified plan Common language Atmosphere of trust and respect AYSO Culture National Office of AYSO Vision Statement Mission Statement Philosophies Kids Zone/AYSO Team National coach/referee/management/special programs Unified instructor program VIP Families – Special Families, Special Needs May feel they are “different” Must deal with many agencies and professionals May not ask for help to join a soccer group Respond better to personal contact Siblings may feel isolated VIP Families – Special Families, Special Needs Most families “shop around” for sports organizations their children want to participate in. Most VIP families don’t, especially with soccer, because they think it is too much of a contact sport and not safe for their children. So personal outreach (face to face, word of mouth, phone) is key.
