TamilNadu Circle Network Training
Purpose
 Procedure to check the health of WAN equipment and WAN Links.
How to Check the Health of WAN Links
In CDR Project we use Network Node Manager (NNM) to check
The health and status of Links and Routers
3
How to open NNM
 Open the Internet explorer, type the URL
http://10.196.208.181:7510/topology/home.
Cont..
 Enter Login User ID and password and click submit.
 The Login User ID and password for Tamilnadu Circle is as

Cont..
 In Alarm Browser go to View Set Filter. Here we can filter the alarms of
Tamil Nadu Circle based on Date/Time, Node, Severity etc.
 To remove filter Go to View  Clear filter.
What to do when Node is indicated as Down
 Ping the router to check the current status of links.
 If it is pinging wait for NNM screen to get refreshed. After refresh
(refresh time is 15min) the links /router should turn back to normal.
 If Router is not pinging Perform the following steps at Exchange
end.
a. Conduct the Loop test for E1 Links from Transmission room
b. If Loop test is ok, Do Ping test again.
c. If Ping test fails execute “Trace route “ from your PC and
note IP Add where it is dropping.
d. If IP Add is dropping at 172.26.x.x series Please contact
NIB/MPLS and Parallely inform CDR Datacenter.

Mediation & Provisioning Link Checkup

You found all the links are ok but mediation portal still states CDR are not up to date
than
 It is possible that though E1 links are ok the connectivity between
the router and PSTN switch is down.
 Before we get into checking this part …lets understand how the
PSTN switch is connected to Exchange Router.

What to check in case of CDOT switches
 Communication between exchange router to CES ( Ethernet cable)
 Communication between CES to IOP 0 & IOP 1.
 Admn password.
 Exchange router to active IOP
Detailed documentation to perform tests between
(CES - IOP for Mediation) & (Exchange router – IOP for Provisioning)
available with ITPC.

Check Availability of CDR Files in CES
 In Windows Explorer type the URL
ftp://<IP Address of CES>/cdr/blg
 Type the Username & password. Request for username & password can be
raised with ITPC .
Cont..
 It opens a window which displays all the CDR files available within the
CES.
Check Availability Of CES
 First Ping to CES IP by giving the command from your desktop which
access to CDR network.
‘Ping <IP Address of CES>’
 If not pinging, then try to Ping to Exchange Router IP.
 If not pinging E1 links might be down. recheck in NNM
 If pinging then check the interface status of fast ethernet 0/0 in NNM.
How to Verify Definations Updation status for clients
In CDR Project we use Symantec Client Security (SCS) to Protect
network from Virus
30
Cont..
 Go to Program files – select Symantec system centre console - SSCC
31
Cont..
 Extract Symantec system center and Unlock the southdcav server group
32
Cont..
 Give the credentials for the southdcav
33
Cont..
 Select your server group and check the definition tab to check client def update status if definition
tab not present please select antivirus view in menu bar
34
Check Infected PC.
 Daily mailer from data centre list the PC ‘s infected with virus
 Following report displays the details of infected PC’s of Erode SSA in
Tamilnadu Circle.
