STD WEBQUEST -a way of finding out beforehand INTRODUCTION Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), as the term implies, are diseases transmitted through sexual activities. Although most of these diseases are readily preventable, each year more than 12 million cases are reported in the United States. Because the infections often do not cause any symptoms, many more cases go undetected and untreated. IMMUNULOGY STDs are transmitted by exchange of body fluids or by direct contact with the infected area. It is also believed that most sexually transmitted diseases facilitate the transmission of HIV infection. (A review of the introduction to Immunology might be helpful.) TASK You and a partner will become an expert about the STD you choose. It will be your responsibility to collect and analyze statistics and data regarding the STD as well as determine what you feel is the school/teacher’s responsibility in warning/teaching children about STD’s. After collecting and analyzing data, you will create PPT presentation as well as give an oral presentation of you statistics and findings.
