Life Of Daniel • Most likely born in Jerusalem around 620 B.C. during the reign of Josiah. • He belonged to the tribe of Judah. • About the age of 14, Daniel was captured in Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. • With three of his friends, he was educated in the language and traditions of the Jewish faith. • Daniel was trained as a highly positioned scholar in service to the king. • Became members of the court. • Daniel became famous as an interpreter of dream. • The name "Daniel" means "God is my Judge.” Some Interesting Facts About Daniel Although the book of Daniel is not technically classified as a part of the Prophets, but of the Writings—the third major section of the Old Testament, Jesus refers to him as a prophet in the New Testament. Daniel's spiritual credentials are of the highest caliber. He was considered a man of righteousness alongside Noah and the patriarch Job. Daniel also had special understanding in literature and wisdom — essential qualifications for writing his book. Daniel wrote this book under his name.
