Sam and the Lucky Money By: Jaden Tuck One day, a little boy becomes the luckiest person in Chinatown. Sam was a happy little boy. He had received four dollars tucked away in leises (envelopes) for his New Year’s Day present. So now, Sam and his mother were off to celebrate New Year’s Day in Chinatown. Sam was so excited but he couldn’t find anything to buy, with the money his grandparents gave him. Sam became so frustrated that he kicked some vegetable stands over and a man sitting nearby. Sam was puzzled because the old man wore old, dirty clothes and had no shoes on his feet in the winter. He continued to go in and out of stores, but still he couldn’t find anything to buy with his four dollars. Finally, as Sam and his mother walked by the old man again. Sam thought about how warm and dry his feet were. He finally new what to do with his lucky money, Sam give all of his money to the old man and that’s how he became the luckiest person in Chinatown. This is a wonderful story. Sam realized that he could do something great that day. He understood that someone was in need. In reading this story, I learned that it is better to give then to receive. After you have given to someone less fortune, you really feel better. I enjoyed this story and I know you will too!
