The leadership program or the unit has allowed me to learn not just one skill, but multiple other skills. I was initially very nervous about whether I would be able to grasp the concepts. But the teachers made the lectures and the programs so lucid, that I developed further interest. This has allowed me to formulate an action plan as well, that will help me inwidening my perspectives on leadership. From the given case scenario on Bharti Airtel, I felt that the winning strategies that the company utilizes is very beneficial for their growth, and has provided them with the success that they have wanted. The aspects of CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility, that the company has incorporated in their mission deserves special significance. They have been able to participate in multiple CSR projects. However there were leadership skills that were observed. There have been the analysis of multiple other case scenarios, this being one prominent example. However, it is not possible to give a detailed description of all the scenarios, hence I would focus on the aspects that this unit has helped me in the development of my career. The core learning structure that this module has presented, has allowed me to focus on improving the learning culture. This integrated module has definitely allowed me to create many opportunities for my career growth. The leadership styles and the management styles that I got to learn has allowed me to effectively think and rethink about my career options. Needless to say that the leadership skills that I have learnt had a major impact in my life. Firstly, it has helped me to make critical decisions effectively. Thereby my problem solving skills have developed drastically. I have been able to set clear goals about my career. The case study that has been provided concerning Bharti Airtel, depicts that fact that their success have primarily been due to their efficient leadership structure and organization. The course has made it clear to me that leadership is majorly about bringing out the best and brightest side in others. I feel that this would be of immense help to me, when I would attain leadership position in any organization in the future. I have also put the leadership skills that I have learnt into practice. However I am going to elaborate on the key learnings that I have learnt from this course and which I feel is significant for my career. I feel that the in-depth coverage of the topics that have been taught in the course, has been of immense help to me, since I desire to achieve leadership position in future. Reflections on the learning can be a very significant and empowering process since that helps in the analysis of the situation very carefully. I have Running Head: Report 8 learnt that the role of leaders are very crucial for the successful running of an organization. Effective management begins with self-awareness, which asserts that the leaders needs to understand and portray their strengths and weaknesses. As per me, I have been able to identify some of the major weaknesses wherein I was lacking focus. The leadership styles and the management skills that I have learnt in the unit has enabled me to identify them and make the necessary changes. I understand the fact that the development of culture of respect for myself requires a considerable amount of time since it has been stated that students are usually not taught about such higher levels of professionalism. The unit has allowed me to develop certain core skills which I lacked. A leader should always possess integrity that would determine the value of his actions and words. Needless to assert that when I see myself as a leader in some organization in the future, I would want to act responsibly. I would definitely want to create a sense of trust and abide by that and not breach it. I would like to maintain healthy and friendly relations with my fellow co-workers, which would also allow them to achieving the goals of the organization.Throughout the unit and the course, I was taught as to how a reflective approach can be important and benefit those who are aspiring to become future leaders. This helps in the identification of the actions. For that, we have been taught some reflective activities that would be of help to us in the future and would enable us to become good leaders. Development of communicational skills has been one of these. Apart from that, the development and inculcation of the interpersonal skills also deserve special mention. The unit has allowed me to develop these core skills which are important for any leader to possess. Certain brainstorming sessions related to leadership were also conducted. Apart form that the exercise of role plays had allowed me to be more creative. This included the identification of a problem situation and we were asked to assume that these problems would lead to the identification of probable solutions. Thereby, the leadership skills that I have learnt would be of immense help to me for advancing in my career. The primary skill that I have learnt is decisiveness. Efficient leaders bear the capability of making quick and effective decisions with the information that they have. Here, decisiveness is one of the most potential skills since it has enabled me to move projects fast and thereby improve the efficiency. Team building is the other skill that I have learnt. While asserting that, team building requires strong communication skills and adherence to proper methods of conflict resolution. Problem solving skills have also drastically improved in me after having completed the unit. It has helped me to make quick decisions and effectively remove the obstacles that might hinder me form achieving my Running Head: Report 9 goals. Diplomacy is the major solution here. Some of the major leadership styles that had a great influence on me are Coach, Visionary and Democratic. The coach leadership style has allowed me to learn that one needs to recognize the strengths of the team members for helping them improve. This would help in the overall improvement of the organization. This leadership style helps in the setting up of clear expectations and the creation of a positive environment. The visionary leadership style has taught me that inspiring the employees and earning their trust is one of the core concerns of a leader. This helps a leader in establishing a strong organizational bond. The democratic leadership style has taught me that feedback is important for the successful running of an organization. This style helps in the fostering of high levels of employee engagement. Proving workplace satisfaction is one of the most sought activity under this kind of leadership. These three leadership styles, in particular, has inculcated in optimistic fervours when I think about my future as a leader. The course has been so interesting that I have formulated an action plan that I believe would help me in developing my leadership skills.
