-The purpose of Grendel's mother
-Compare contrast Grendel mothers video
with Grendle mother in epic
-Beowulf vocabulary
-Comprehension questions
-Watch summary

Bellringer: Which monster do you think is
scarier, Grendel or Grendel’s mom? Explain
your response.
Quickwrite:
Identify two contemporary female villains.
What makes them villainous? Does our
society react differently to a female villain
than a male villain? Explain your thoughts.
Literature:
-Read Beowulf Last Battle
-In a group, generate five statements the
character would say/think. Use textual
evidence to support statements
-Kennings and vocabulary
Students receive a study guide to work on.
Correct answers will be given on Thursday.

Bellringer: How do you think Beowulf will
die?
Literature:
-Read Death of Beowulf
-Analyze section
-Vocabulary and kennings
-Hypothetical Homework assignment:
. Throughout the poem, Beowulf faces a
series of enemies. From Grendel, to his
mother, to the evil dragon, each of these
monsters presentes the hero with an intense
challenge. Imagine that Beowulf was not
killed at the end of the epic and create
another challenge for him to face. Your
response can be presented in paragraph
form, a short comic, a picture and poem or
any other mode that you feel adequately
conveys the challenge you have created.
Literature assignment:
-Complete Beowulf Study Guide
-From either section that we have read , find
ONE example of the following:
Kenning
Alliteration
Evidence of a Christian Monk narrator
Darkness used as a symbol for evil

Be sure to include line number
