Thesis: Paul, who wrote the book of Romans, writes that we are to disobey government when
government law clearly is against the Bible. When a woman’s life is in danger, not when she has
been raped, can abortion be acceptable. The Bible has no reference that to take a life to save a
life is justified. Not only is there the fact that the mother will bring an unwanted baby into the
world which creates hardship on that baby, as well as support that the mother receives, but by
ignoring possible death of the. Mother, there is a possibility of both fetal and maternal death.
Also, does government have an obligation to provide for that mother as well, since she was
denied lawfully aborting her baby? Also, do abortion doctors have the fourteenth amendment to
defend themselves when they perform a lifesaving abortion from an ectopic pregnancy? The
government guarantees in the Fourteenth Amendment:
.... No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the
privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any
State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due
process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal
protection of the laws ....
I wish to study this in depth as Roe v Wade decision may be overturned as federal law. James
Montgomery Boice wrote about law and obedience in his 4 volumes on Romans. I argue that
this is the only acceptable exception to abortion.
