Production
Hydrogen gas may be produced by several methods. It is
commercially obtained by electrolysis of water. It also is
made industrially by the reaction of steam with methane
or coke:
CH4 + H2O → CO + 3H2
C + H2O → CO + H2
CO + H2O → CO2 + H2
