Siemens MindSphere Challenge – Business Use Case Challenge - Federated Platforms (the@vanced & MindSphere) Company: Kampf Schneid- und Wickeltechnik GmbH & Co. KG Industry: Machine and Plant engineering Size: 600 employees, €120 million sales Main products, innovation: Cutting and winding machines for all kinds of web-shaped materials up to cutting widths of 11m, specially developed Industry 4.0 platform the@vanced (see below) Customer structure and products: Kampf designs, constructs and builds machines for the processing of web- shaped material, i.e. everything you can "wind up". The products that run on their machines range from potato chip packaging, security bills and TFT / OLED display film to lithium-ion rechargeable batteries for e-mobility. Smart Production– Being Efficient • Retrieve production information in real time • Automatically generate performance metrics • Equip finished products with a complete digital resume 2. Smart Maintenance – Staying Efficient • Immediate access to spare parts • Detailed maintenance videos • Retrieval and access conveniently via QR code 3. Smart Operation– Boosting Efficiency • Big Data Lake • Analysis of potentials with Big Data Analysis MindSphere Challenge 1 |Page Use Case A manufacturer of TFT display film and battery separator film produces at various locations. On the production lines KAMPF cutting machines are available to cut the film to the desired widths. The production managers in the different locations use the@vanced to monitor the status of the KAMPF machines. The machine data, in particular the performance indicators, are exchanged with the MindSphere. There they can be displayed and analyzed for the individual locations. The aim is to compare the different production sites in order to tap potential for improvement. Figure 1: the@vanced in on-premise operation Figure 2: Screenshot of the@vanced - Shopfloor view MindSphere Challenge 2 |Page The the@vanced runs on customer request as "On Premise Solution" with local server. There, among other things, various data of the machines are kept on the shop floor (Fig. 1 – Fig.4). The challenge is to create an opportunity to present, compare and analyze the different locations in MindSphere. Starting points for ideas for the Challenge can be the selection of necessary data, their level of detail and a meaningful form of presentation for the comparison of the production locations. Problem Description ▪ What problems do you want to address? "Federated Platforms" - Integration of MindSphere and the@vanced using the example of key performance indicators of production sites and their machines. It's about connectivity and interoperability of the platforms. ▪ How do you tackle the problem today? The data are "on premise", i.e. local. Production sites may be connected via VPN. In the future, the data required to compare different locations will be available in MindSphere. In MindSphere, the locations should be presented with meaningful data and compared with each other. ▪ To whom does the problem concern? All our customers with the@vanced ▪ Is there any additional background information that can help you find a solution? At MindSphere, two production sites with pilot plants are made available. A factory tour at fight with demonstration of the machines can be offered. Further information and machine data will be provided agilely during the challenge if required. MindSphere Challenge 4 |Page Technical assistance for the developers ▪ Type of data? Production data / performance indicators of the machines from the@vanced and the MindSphere. Optional for each machine: • All data of the SIEMENS drives and built-in sensors that are addressed / read out via the SIEMENS Simatic PLC. Attaching additional sensors is possible and is often supported. ▪ Type of machines / plants? Cutting and winding machines ▪ Description of data availability? Records are already present in the@vanced and can be transferred to the MindSphere. New data is generated continuously in the technical center. ▪ Are the data already evaluated? The data is already evaluated today, but not on the basis of MindSphere and the additional opportunities that arise.
