If tariffs were imposed, they would affect the automobile industry by making foreign cars more difficult and expensive for Americans to buy. Conversely, the same would be true for foreigners that wanted to buy a domestically manufactured car. 2. Why might domestic automobile manufacturers be impacted by tariffs? Domestic manufacturers would be impacted by the tariffs because of Trump’s restrictions on steel and aluminum imports which are crucial components in car manufacturing. In addition, sales might decline as a result of these tariffs. 3. Why are trade agreements between countries important for international supply chains? How can Supply Chain Managers impact these challenges? Trade agreements are important because they are a method of ensuring access to lower cost goods. Trade agreements can also help develop cross-border supply chains and help increase the value traded between companies. Trade agreements could also pose a threat for a trade war which supply chain managers would have to navigate to find suppliers that would best fit the company’s needs given the theoretical situation.
