Each card has a cation or anion, their charge and either closed or open circles representing the charge. Determine the number of cations and anions needed to build a compound that has a total charge of zero. See the dots located on each card to help you determine the number of each ion you will need. Draw the cation (chemical symbol, charge, and name below) in the correct column Draw the anion (chemical symbol, charge and name below) in the correct column Write the correct chemical formula in correct column. Cation is always written first. If you need more than one polyatomic ion, then you must put a set of parentheses around the polyatomic ion.
