In 2002 I simply began a hotline for Muslim women in crisis. The number is 577-SAFE
and basically I help connect women in crisis to local resources and help with everything
from safety planning, translation, financial assistance, and support. I have several
volunteers from different backgrounds that help when necessary. The only expense I
have is the phone bill, the rest is all volunteer run. The name of the organization is
Karaama which means dignity in Arabic.
