Grading:
A total point system is used on all assignments. The following categories
will be used in PHOENIX – Quiz, Test, Homework, Classwork, and Project
II.
Assessments: (per quarter):
Formative Assessments (may or may not count towards final grade
numerically and are worth fewer points): Homework, Classwork, WarmUps, Exit Slips, Diagnostic Assessments, etc.
Summative Assessments (count towards final grade numerically and
are worth more points): Vocabulary, Grammar, and Culture Quizzes;
Stage and Grammar Tests; Projects; Independent/Partner/Group
Assignments; Classwork; Exit Tickets
III.
Re-Assessment Policy: Students will be allowed to re-take any 2
summative assessments per quarter. Deadlines for the re-assessment of
all quizzes will posted in the classroom, on my webpage, and in
PHOENIX. Students must fill out the “re-assessment form,” correct the
original assessment in a different color, and come to 1 Friday morning
tutoring session BEFORE they are allowed to re-take their chosen
quizzes.
IV.
Homework/Classwork:
Homework and classwork assignments will be either formative or
summative at my discretion. These assignments are designed to help you
PRACTICE the language and learn about the culture of the Romans.
Homework & classwork are essential and expected in order to progress in
language development. If you do NOT do these assignments, you WILL be
hopelessly lost in Latin.
NOTA BENE: You will be given 1 homework pass per quarter. Use it
wisely!!!
