The word study assessment will be on Friday, Feb 26 th .
We will continue the exploration of the
Americas by describing the accomplishments of Christopher
Columbus, Juan Ponce de Leon, Jacques
Cartier and Christopher Newport and using our mapping skills to explore our world. We are excited to explore
Middleburg on our Feb 25 th fieldtrip.
We are investigating the ways people measure. For the next few weeks we will learn how to measure length, capacity, weight, and temperature. Some words to know are: inch, foot, centimeter, cup, pint, quart, liter, pounds, grams, kilograms, and thermometer.

We are investigating and understanding that environments support a diversity of plants and animals that share limited resources with a focus on water-related environments, dry-land environments, population and community.

Part 5:
How can humans make choices to improve the quality of life for the animals in their care?
Using your research from parts 1-4, deliver a plan to the human controlled habitat. This plan should be easy to read and understand (neat and organized). The plan should also be respectful of the park or company, and acknowledge the park’s efforts. The plan explains the importance of this improvement with evidence from your research. You can deliver this plan in whatever format you would prefer – video, brochure, diagram, etc.
Part 5 will be due on Monday, February

DANCE:
LEO night is fast approaching…this quarter’s
Leo Night will be Thursday, March
3 rd . The students will be performing a song from Despicable Me. I’m requesting that students wear a solid yellow shirt, dark blue jeans, and tennis shoes for their costumes. If students have a Despicable Me cap/hat, they can wear that too. Parents, thank you for your support. I truly appreciate it!!
Physical Education:
In physical education, students finished a 2 week unit on gymnastics. Students practiced transferring weight, balancing, and rolling. The next 2 weeks, we will be focusing on team handball, where the focus will be throwing to a moving target and team work.

The gifted and talented Cogat test for 2 nd graders will be held this week. Please remember to take your jackets and water bottles home.
PLEASE pack enough snack each day so that you do not eat your lunch during snack time.
