University of Nevada, Reno Department of Geography Spring 2009 Instructors: Gary Johnson Geography 409/609 Advanced Geographic Information Systems Lab 2 – ArcGIS scripts and extensions The purpose of this lab is to develop your skills in creating buttons in ArcView and ArcGIS. In ArcView/ArcGIS there are tools available to perform many different functions. In this lab you will be asked to add a button on the tool bar and a tool in ArcGIS that when used will perform some function. You will search the internet and find a ArcView script and a ArcGIS script or tool you like and add them to a ArcView and ArcGIS project. Print the screen showing the added button. Make sure your name and the lab number is on the turned in lab. Go to www.esri.com and find a script that interest you and add it to an ArcView/ArcGIS project. Present a 3-5 minute talk as to how the script is used and then demonstrate the use on a computer in the GIS lab. Be prepared to make presentations in one week of assignment . This is a PASS/FAIL lab. Late labs will be reduced 2 points each day they are late.
