Free time – the remaining time ; one decides to spend the free time varies from person to person; time for busy people to relax and rejuvenate RECREATION from Latin word “recreare” which means to be refreshed. - Choices of recreation vary from one person to person. - What makes one happy may not be so for others. - Recreational activities depend on one’s interests , pursuits, and needs which may be reflective of one’s beliefs and level of gratification. For example a natural park may serve as a bonding pace for a family, a great fitness area for a jogger and a place to commune with nature / meditate for others. Reasons for doing outdoor activities - Personal satisfaction and enjoyment - A time a way from the day to day routine - Getting in touch with nature - For personal pursuit like photography, collecting sea shells , reaching the top of Mt. Apo, conquering the rapids of Cagayan River or attaining fitness level. - Some use it for environmental education such as birdwatching , plant-naming, etc. People engage in recreational activity for their own sake, voluntarily and of their own choice.
