Job Title (code): IT System Manager I (9821) Purpose Purpose: Persons in the IT System Manager I classification install, manage, and diagnose server, applications, or advanced data communications/voice communications equipment and software. They work under the close supervision of a manager in the performance of their duties, which typically are for a limited number and complexit Essential Functions Function 1: Provides consistent technical support to application owners and end users. Performs routine application testing and diagnosis in conjunction with senior IT System Managers. Liaises with application vendors to troubleshoot non-functional programs and features. 25 % Time Function 2: Documents assigned problem resolution processes. Records documentation in MS SharePoint and departmental directories. Utilizes homogenous documentation verbiage under the supervision of a senior IT System Manager. 25 % Time Function 3: Installs and configures departmental applications for UTA customers on OIT servers. Works with OIT Operations colleagues to facilitate infrastructure, data and communication support needs. 25 % Time Function 4: Fosters positive communication between all organizational units in the enterprise. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor?s Degree with coursework in computing or information systems and one year of related computing systems management work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required as appropriate to the technical field: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Basic knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment. Ability to install and configure server hardware and software including Operating Systems and associated configurations. Ability to install and configure advance data communications or telecommunications hardware and software. Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
