IT SYSTEM MANAGER II (Official Title) Purpose of Position Persons in the IT System Manager II classification install, manage, and diagnose server, applications, or advanced data communications/voice communications equipment and software. They work under the general supervision of a manager in the performance of their duties, which typically are for a higher number and complexity of servers/hardware than ITSM I personnel and usually for multiple departments or divisions within the University. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in computing or information systems and three years of related computer systems management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required as appropriate to the technical field: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment. Ability to install and configure server hardware and software including Operating Systems and associated configurations. Ability to install and configure advance data communications or telecommunications hardware and software. Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
