The Temple Daily Telegram reports that the Ag. And Earth Expo Planning Committee is currently planning opportunities for elementary teachers from Bell County and six neighboring counties to gain training on science, agriculture and the environment this spring. The next training, provided electronically through distance learning technologies, is scheduled for Thursday, Jan 18 and will focus on gr\ardening for kids. Tecchers can earn CEU credits and obtain a variety of resources for use in their classrooms. As a strong component of th training series, classroom projects are available which focus on active learning through hands-on activities. Each project provides classroom resources and requir4es teacher developed curriculum and student researched procucts,. Finished projects will ge on display at t he Ag. Earth Expo 2001 on May 1-3, 2001 at the Bell County Expo Center. The Ag. And Earth Expo is fnded by a series of grants from Central Texas School-to-Work , the Region 12 Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching, the USDA Forest Service, EPA, Region 6, the Coryell, Hamilton and Bell Farm Bureau and Central Texas Council ofn Governments.
