Book Expo We have started our Book Expo preparation. The Book Expo is an opportunity for your child to closely read a new book, use all of their strategies to make meaning of that text, gather their thinking together, and then use their creativity to present specific information about their books. There is a Power Point on my webpage that we have gone through in class outlining the criteria for this project. The students will finish the reading of their books tomorrow. As I said in Friday’s weekly email, each child will need one of the trifold display boards (think science fair boards) for their projects. They will need it on Wednesday. Please let me know if you are willing to purchase one extra, as there may be some children in our class that the purchase of a board might be a hardship on their family. The kids are very excited about the Book Expo. The students will be sharing their projects with you at the Celebration of Learning on May 25th at 1:45 in our classroom. We look forward to seeing you then. Here is an idea of the board your child will need: Also, I told the children that as a 4th grade teacher, I do not have all of the fun glitter, pom poms, feathers, beads, etc. that they may want to decorate their boards with, so if you have any of that material that you would be willing to share with our class, please send it to school. We haven’t had an opportunity to use those types of things, so I really don’t have that type of supply. If you would like to send supplies for only your child to use, that is fine too! Just please make sure and label those supplies and then email me so I will know those supplies are to be used solely by your child. Otherwise, I will assume all supplies donated are for all children to use. The students will be preparing their work in class today and tomorrow, but they will need to type and print their work at home and bring it back the following day. If your student does not have access to a computer or printer, please let me know so that we can make arrangements here at school. Each student has a direction sheet in their homework folder to help them along the way. They also have a printed version of the slideshow we went over in class. Let me know if you have questions!
