JOB DESCRIPTION
As a phonathon caller for Temple College, you are a representative for the College. Because of
the nature of your time spent calling, you are expected to market Temple College with
professionalism and sincerity. The connection you make with our alumni is often the most
personal and “real” contact they receive annually. Your dedication to generating financial
support is essential to every student’s campus experience.
Qualifications:
 A clear and pleasant speaking voice and an excellent command of the language.
 Reliable and able to work well with others.
 Able to convey enthusiasm for Temple College in a positive and mature manner.
 Willing to follow instructions and have a high regard for details.
 An ability to be persistent and negotiate.
 Able to not take rejection personally.
 Previous telemarketing experience is NOT necessary.
Responsibilities
Attend and participate in training sessions
 All callers will attend the required training sessions to learn the steps to make an
effective call.
 Employees will be paid for training sessions if they attend all required training sessions
and work two complete calling shifts.
Understand and follow phonathon procedures and guidelines
 Treat alumni and coworkers with respect and professionalism at all times
 Respond to calls with difficult donors maturely
 Notify phonathon manager of problems
 Use the phonathon script as a guide
 Ask at every prescribed level
 Break only at scheduled times
 Refrain from excessive conversation with coworkers
 No personal calls
Phonathon Reporting
 Manage calling sheet and report accurate results for statistical purposes
 Accurately note changed alumni information and pledge information so that it can be
entered into the database
Strategize and plan for better phonathon procedures
 Bring any needs and issues to the managers
Shift Requirements
 3 Shifts Per Week
 Arrive on time
 During the phonathon period, shifts are held:
Monday – Thursday, 5:30 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Pay Level
 Callers begin at $6.50 per hour.
