Online training takes most students about one hour. Attendance at the in-person training session is mandatory for new callers and is encouraged for returning callers. Time Expectations: On-line training takes most students about an hour to complete. You can break this up into smaller chunks of time if necessary as there are several chapters to complete. In-person training is a 2 to 3-hour evening session. Evening calling sessions are three hours each from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Day shifts are from 2-5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Sunday shifts run from 1-4 p.m. You are expected to call 2-3 shifts per week. Pay: 1) Training – New callers will be paid $8 upon completion of online training (which should take approximately one hour) and $8 per hour they attend in-person training. 2) Calling – Despite our best attempts to train and prepare all callers for the nuances of telephone fundraising, some students find it is not something that they can be comfortable doing. Callers will be paid $8 per hour in the month of September. If/when they successfully complete four calling shifts, their pay will increase to $10 per hour, effective October 1. If callers do not successfully complete four calling shifts, they will be paid $8 an hour for each hour called. (Training is paid at $8 per hour regardless.) 3) Phonathon Assistant – Some callers may choose, with the approval of management, to move into the role of Phonathon Assistant to help with the paperwork generated by Phonathon. Time spent as a Phonathon Assistant will be paid at prevailing wage depending on your class year. 4) Returning callers generally, but not always, receive a small raise each additional semester that they call. Management will review each caller’s performance and schedule before inviting callers to return in subsequent semesters.
