Send in your membership form and help our class win a class party!! Extra membership forms are available in front office and PTA Room. What are we learning this week? Math: We are still composing and decomposing numbers and will begin story problems. Reading/Writing: Sight words will continue. Please practice them each night. If your child forgets to bring it home, all the lists are on my website. We are also learning new strategies to improve reading skills. Guided reading groups are getting started and students should be bringing home their guided reading baggie and sight word baggie each night for practice and they need to bring them back to school each day. We will also begin more of a focus on writing this week. IB/Social Studies: Since I was out so much last week, we will do our culture projects on Monday. Then we will begin talking about what symbols represent the culture of our classroom. We will create a class crest that represents Ms. Chancellor's Class culture and will present it to the other first grades on Friday. 2. Next week will be early release for students (12:50) so that teachers can meet with parents. I am required to meet with every parent. I will be sending home a reminder of the time you signed up for at Meet the Teacher night. A few parents still don't have a set time, so I will be getting in touch with you this week to work out a time. 3. Please help your child with learning to tie shoes. Your help with this is appreciated. 4. Great news! The Borman Library will begin staying open until 4:30 every Monday in order for parents to come in and check out books. A variety of books at home for first graders to read is essential to their positive development in reading and writing! Please take advantage of this awesome opportunity! 5.
