Haiku Assignment
A haiku is a short poem of three lines. Traditionally, the syllables of the lines are 5-7-5. Haiku
are great for capturing one quick image -- like a photograph. Write your own haiku: here are two
options.
1) Your own life. Think of a moment from your life. It can be beautiful, sad, funny, or have
some particular quality you’re trying to capture. Describe it in 5-7-5 form. Be as specific
as possible with your word choices.
2) Find an interesting image on Google Images. Describe it in 5-7-5 form. Be as specific as
possible with your word choices.
FOR BOTH OPTIONS: describe the picture or image in one short paragraph. I will collect this at
the end of class.
