Lab Safety Haiku Purpose: Science class involves many hands-on laboratory activities. To ensure your safety, you have been provided with a list of rules to adhere to when completing lab activities. This activity will allow you to take one of the many rules and create a memorable poem and image to share with your classmates. What is a Haiku??? "Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. First line – 5 syllables Second line – 7 syllables Third line – 5 syllables Example of a Haiku: Procedure: You will create a haiku about one of the lab safety rules on the Flinn Scientific Student Safety Contract. Once you’ve come up with your final haiku, you will write it on a blank white sheet of paper and create an illustration to go with your poem. Haiku is due by: Wednesday, August 11, 2021
