What’s Happening at Edison in February
In P.E. this month, we are working on golf, football and long jump ropes for
the next 4 weeks. Lunch recess soccer intramurals are going strong for
grades 4-6. We will finish soccer at the end of February.
Fifth grade students will be participating in the Walk On program
throughout February. This program emphasis the following:
5 servings of fruit and veggies every day. 2 hours or less of screen time
(video games, TV, and computer), 1 hour of activity every day& no soda’s
and sugary drinks. Mrs. Wolf and Mr. Kahn
Third Grade
In Reading, we are still working with a non-fiction story called, Wild Shots,
They are my life. The students will be learning about main idea and finding
supporting details. We will continue to learn about author’s purpose using
the formula PIE.
In Math, we are working on comparing fractions. We use inequalities and
equivalence to compare with pictures and number lines.
In Science, we are completing a study about Sound. The students gave
presentations about the Sound Challenge and are working on their Ear
Books. Look for these to come home soon. After this unit, we will take a
short break from Science and learn about writing narratives.
5th Grade
The students in math have completed the units of multiplication and
