Calendar Notes
March 1st – Family Reading Night
5:30-6:30 p.m.- MPR &
Talent Show 6:45-8:00 p.m.
Edison’s Carnival is quickly approaching and PTO can use your help. We
need help with set up, clean up and game booths. If you are interested,
please contact your student’s teacher and they will notify PTO with your
contact information. There will be food, fun, games and prizes. Please
plan to come join us for a day of fun. All proceeds go to support your PTO.
Parents of Kinder & First Graders
See the attached letter to help explain the laws passed that impact you’re
March 6th – 3rd Grade Ocean Trip your students in these grade levels. Move on When Reading was designed
to keep students focused on advancing in reading skills before they can

Intramural Volleyball Getting Underway
Deb Wolf, Edison PE teacher, has her third season of Intramural sports
starting soon. Students in grades 4-6 are learning the basics of the game
during PE classes so they can compete against other classes.
Edison to Practice Safety Drills- March 9th
Friday March 9th is going to be a very busy day for students and staff. We
have an evacuation safety drill scheduled. Students and staff will be
moving off campus to reassemble at a safe site. This practice will help us in
the event of an actual emergency. This is only a drill.
Kindergarten Registration
Kinder Registration for the 2012-13 school year is underway. All families
will need a birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence.
Please help us meet our registration goals by getting your paperwork
completed before Spring Break.
TESTING Calendar—Avoid family appointments for 2 weeks in April if at all
possible. AIMS/Stanford – April 16-20 for grades 2-6 & CRTS April 23-25, 30-May2
for grades 1st/2nd. Testing can take an entire day for some students. Thanks.

Reduce Screen Time—Limit Computer & Television Usage
For many of us, limiting our computer usage and getting away from all screens can be a challenge. That means
television (TV) screens, computer monitors, and even the handheld devices we use for checking e-mail, listening
to music, watching TV, and playing video games on the go. Health experts say screen time at home should be
limited to two hours or less a day, unless it’s work- or homework-related. The time we spend in front of the
screen could be better spent being more physically active (increasing our ENERGY OUT), and setting a good
example for our families.
Tips for a Successful Year
When it comes to kids—parents and caregivers should not only set a good example, they need to set rules that
limit kids’ computer time, TV watching, and video game playing to reduce how much time is spent in front
