June 30th is quickly approaching! The Financial Reporting Team has sent out their annual yearend cutoff schedule for FY14 business. If you have any questions regarding year end timing or
if you would like to obtain a copy of this schedule, please contact Sara Spicer or Shawn
McIntosh or refer to the Financial Systems website.

We are quickly approaching the UMHS Internal Controls annual certification process. All
materials are due to be completed online and approved by AHD/Chair/Executive by August
15th.
For additional information, you can also reference the Internal Controls webpage
http://www.finance.umich.edu/controls
Changes were made to the ACU Margin Statement – Institution View report on the ACU
Dashboard.


Lines 35 & 43 were changed to use the ACAR “Amb Care Visit” flag for these
calculations.
A new line, 44, was added for “Total Visits (Provider + Auxiliary) for Total “Amb Care
Visits”.
The Cost Accounting dashboard has been taken offline while we work to ensure better controls
over the data presented on these reports. These reports provide Unit Costs by Cost Type and
Cost Category for all CDM/EAP codes which flow through the EPSI Cost Accounting system.
We are working to have these reports available to customers by the end of July.
Remember to check out the Change Management section on our Financial Systems website.
Reports with all the monthly hierarchy changes are located in the Change Management
website. You can also find the cutoff dates for monthly and the bi-annual changes.

If you use Hyperion Smart View and pull fund information by “Alias” vs “Member for the
following 22 Fund Groups then your Smart View query will need to be modified to the NEW
“Alias” as listed below.
If you are pulling Quarter and/or YTD FTEs from UMHSCons, it is imperative that you use
the following “Balances” POV to pull the correct Quarter and/or YTD FTEs
For quarterly FTEs there is a Balance member called QTRFTE (quarterly).
For YTD FTEs there is a Balance member called YTDFTE (year-to-date).
The results by using the existing QTR and YTD members will give you an average of the
FTE’s however the QTRFTE and YTDFTE member calculation is based on Hours and
Days and it is the correct FTE numbers for a Quarter and/or YTD view.

The UMHS Financial Systems team is in the process of integrating the Hospital, Medical
School, EVPMA and MHC financial and decision support systems into one centralized
environment. The integration strategy will provide one “version of the truth” across all
systems and reporting tools regardless of how the data is accessed, in turn reducing
data integrity concerns and providing industry best in class reporting.
What does this mean to me?
 One common hierarchy (account, fund, department) regardless of tool used to
access the data
 Latest technology platform and mobile accessibility
 No changes to existing infrastructure and tools
o Data Mart (OBIEE – Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) will
exist in the same format until all functionality is transitioned to the new
infrastructure
o UMHSCons (Hyperion Essbase) will remain unchanged, other than
moving to an MCIT hosted environment
Please contact us with any questions UMHSFinancialSystems@med.umich.edu
As part of UMHS Financial Systems goal of providing one version of the truth in a centralized
environment we are transitioning the hosting of our Hyperion applications from ITS to MCIT.
This will allow all of our supported tools to be integrated and provide a single ‘version of the
truth’ across all systems.
As of July 1, 2014, the ITS application/connection will no longer be available; at that time all
users will need to utilize the MCIT connection.
What does this mean to me?
 The URL to access Hyperion Workspace will change
 The URL to access UMHSCons in the Microsoft Office add in Smart View will change
 All dimensions and members will remain exactly the same between the two
environments
 The MCIT Application (ConsFY14) will mimic the UMHSCons you are familiar with
o There are some functionality improvements with the newer software versions,
which can be found in the attached document
o Data will be loaded monthly into both systems for the remainder of FY14
Hyperion Workspace URL
 The MCIT URL is: https://findatamgr.med.umich.edu/workspace/index.jsp
 Compatible with IE7, IE8, IE9
Smart View URL
 The new MCIT URL is:
https://findatamgr.med.umich.edu/workspace/SmartViewProviders
 See the attached document for instructions on how to update the URL on your computer.
 Syntax for the shared connection in Smart View Templates:
Provider Type: Essbase
Server: uhepmappspr1.umhs.med.umich.edu
Application: CONSFY14
Database: TrialBal
The full connection is:
WSFN|Essbase|uhepmappspr1.umhs.med.umich.edu|CONSFY14|TrialBal
 See attached document on how to update an Ad-Hoc Smart View query
Smart View Version Update
 A new version (11.1.2.5.210) of Smart View is available for you to install, instructions are

 The new version (11.1.2.5.210) of Smart View will be automatically pushed to computers
on June, 23, 2014 that have the current version of Smart View installed
 You can manually download the installation file here:
