Foundations of Accounting and Finance
Prerequisites
Admission into either the MSM or MSHRM program.
Purpose
To provide a survey of accounting finance concepts for the MSM or MSHRM programs.
BUS5502 is required for MSM or MSHRM students who lack a business, accounting, or business-related degree from a school holding specialized accreditation for their business programs.
Description
A study of key concepts in accounting finance that provide a foundation for further study in the
MSM or MSHRM courses. The course will not transfer to any other business programs.
Students must earn a grade of “B” or better.
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1.
Illustrate how accounting information is used in budgeting and strategic planning.
2.
Analyze the financial condition and performance of a firm using financial statement analysis, financial ratio analysis, and common size analysis.
3.
Use financial information in decision making.
