Call to Order The monthly meeting of the Missouri State University Professional Education Committee convened at 3:30 pm. Chair, Diana Piccolo presiding. A quorum was established. II. Minutes Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of November 12, 2014 meeting with one correction. All approved. Minutes stand as corrected. III. Announcements a. The PEC will continue to approving Teacher Education candidates. b. PEC by-laws will go forward to Faculty Senate for approval in January 2015. IV. Administrative Updates a. Unit Update – Chris Craig, Head of the PEU No report. b. MABEP Update – David Hough Clinical Task Force Update – xxx The State Board of Education has a study session going on now and will meet tomorrow to set the cut scores for the Missouri Content Assessments. MABEP made the recommendation to go with the panel based cut scores. In August, once there has been more test takers, they will look at the cut scores again. COE is looking at piloting in the fall a one year internship with a master teacher with university directors of internships heading this. c. Assessment Update – James Sottile Assessment Day is Dec 5. Taskstream has been accepted. The implementation and matrices will be discussed at the Assessment Day meeting. d. Secondary Education Update – Rebecca Woodard, Director No report. V. Committee Reports a. Admissions, Procedures, & Retention – Chair Cheryl Wrinkle A checklist for Transfer Students will soon be available on the Secondary Education website for everyone to have access. Membership & Professional Development – Chair Beth Hurst The one page electronic application is working beautifully. Program Review – Chair Rebecca Woodard Will organize a meeting in the new year. Diversity – Chair Margaret Weaver No report. Conceptual Framework – Chair needed. BSED Secondary Oversight – Chair Andrew Homburg The committee met Nov 14 and continued their discussion on curricular changes and the Ad-Hoc Committee changes. Will next meet on January 16, 2015. MSED Secondary Oversight – Chair David Oatman (Rebecca Woodard reported) The committee has not met since the last PEC meeting, but will be meeting in the new year. Screening – Chair Michelle Morgan The Committee has five Curricular Proposals to present. Exceptions and Compliance – Chair Gayle Runke Have already had someone request a waiver for MoGEA. The committee will meet before the new semester begins. Action Items a.
