Discussion Items
1. Approve the removal of the MEP2 (posttest) – James Sottile
Dr. Sottile was unable to attend.
2. MABEP Update – David Hough
On November 18 when MABEP meets again they will be taking a position on MoPTA.
The way it stands now it cannot work. DESE is taking two steps back since statewide too
many districts do not want their students video tapped. TASK 4 (video) is totally up in
the air. MABEP has been asked to make a recommendation on what to do to the State
Board of Education. Dr. Hough’s suggestion is to eliminate student teaching supervisors,
and work with school districts to have building principals and classroom teachers do the
evaluations for the student teaching experience. If we hire them as adjuncts it would save
us $300,000. His suggestion also included using ½ to pay the schools to do the work and
create a partnership between the public schools and MSU to train them.
3. Certification Matrices & Review of Secondary Core – Rebecca Woodard
Oct 1 at 3:30 will be the first meeting. Main thing will be looking at the Secondary Core.
