This semester we are reading the book Lovely Bones. In this book Alice Sebold is a
maintains with sympathy and humor the voice of a 14-year-old who continues, from heaven, to
be engaged with life on earth even though the subject of this novel is considered gripping,
difficult, sad, even gruesome by some.
For this assignment I want you to go to the L.A. Times website: http://www.latimes.com
and research an article written about kidnapped or missing children in United States. Print a copy
of the article, read and annotate it, then write a one-page response.


In your one page (minimum) response, I want you to reflect on whether the article
supports or does not support some of the topics/themes/experiences in Lovely Bones. Then tell
me what you think. What is your response to what you have read? What is your opinion on the
issues raised in the article? Do you have any personal experiences that support what you have
