Here We Come!
What to expect….
• Binders- We will have daily binders
similar to what 1st grade uses.
• Homework- Different classes assign
homework in different ways. All will
have math & reading.
• Reading Logs- Each night you will need
to write down the book/pages read &
sign your child’s reading log in their
binder.
Math…things to know
• Addition/Subtraction facts to 18
• Ones/Tens Place Value
• Counting change (pennies, nickels,
dimes)
• Tell time to the half hour
• Know basic shapes
• Recognize simple patterns
Reading
• Sequencing a story & being able to
retell the beginning, middle, & end
• Read on a 1.8 AR level
• Explain the difference between
fiction/non-fiction & fact/opinion
• Retell major details of a story
(character, setting)
Phonics

Silent E Rule ex. Bake
Language
• Write full name
• Write address/phone number
• Write a complete sentence with a
