El Camino College Associated Students Organization Senate Meeting Minutes 28 February 2008 1:00 p.m. – Board Room 1. Call to Order A. Bachmann called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. Roll Call 2. Approval of Minutes 3.1 No minutes were presented. 4. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved as presented. 5. New Business Appointments 5..1 V. Amezcua made the recommendation to appoint Vincent Armstrong, Elysia GalindoRamirez, and Dean Paily to the May election committee, with V. Armstrong acting as the Chair. 5..2 V. Amezcua made the recommendation to appoint V. Amezcua as the student representative to the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. V. Armstrong made the motion to approve the appointment. The motion was seconded by Yvette Diaz. The motion passed. 5..3 V. Amezcua made the recommendation to appoint A. Bachman as the student representative to the Distinguished Faculty Committee. D. Paily made the motion to approve the appointment. The motion was seconded by I. Poste. The motion passed. Reports 6.1 Executive Cabinet V. Armstrong: Due to recent safety concerns on college campuses, an emergency school notification system using the telephone or email is being discussed. 6.2 ICC Reports At the recent club rush, 31 clubs participated, including 4 new clubs. There are a total of 10 new clubs. The blood mobile will be here on March 18th, 19th, and 20th. The ICC approved partial funding for the annual Powwow, which will be funded by 4 clubs. The Powwow takes place on April 5th-6th. 6.3 Committee Reports 6.4 Advisor Reports J.Watanabe: 250 scholarships are available, but only 40 applications have been received. Many student email accounts are full, and unable to receive any new messages. These accounts might be purged of old notifications to make room for new ones. Out of 26 people involved in the ASO, 14 or more maintained a 4.0 GPA last semester, with 3 students maintaining a 4.0 GPA over their entire time at El Camino. This makes the ASO look better to administration. H. Tyler: V. Armstrong and Harold to give a presentation to management at 8:00 on Thursday morning. 6. Public Comment J. Watanabe: A reminder to file intent to graduate forms. 7. Adjournments Christe made the motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by V. Armstrong.
