Discussion Items 6.1 El Camino College Math Professor- L. Kjeseth Proposed changes to math curriculum were discussed. The first change would be splitting Intermediate Algebra, Math 70, into two separate courses. The original aim for Math 70 was to cater to Math and Science students. However, the breadth of the course was unnecessary for students with other majors, and made for a much larger obstacle for students. The change would create Math 73, Intermediate Algebra for General Education, and Math 80, Intermediate Algebra for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. If this change passes, it would take effect in fall 2009. The second change would be to adjust the unit values of Math 12 and 23 from 4 to 3 units in order to remain in compliance with the Title 5 requirements regarding credit unit definitions. V. Armstrong motioned to extend discussion for 5 minutes. A. Ahmed seconded the motion. The motion passed. 6.2 El Camino College Art History Professor- A. Ahmadpour A.
