Resolution 13-20: A Resolution to Urge Further Action on Providing More Resources for the ODS Technology Center 1 WHEREAS, the Office of Disability Services Technology Center has been unable to 2 meet the demand for providing academic materials in alternative format by 3 the start of classes; and 4 5 6 WHEREAS, the Technology Center’s resources are inadequate to meet this demand in a timely manner; and WHEREAS, students with disabilities who need books in alternative format cannot 7 prepare for classes or complete class assignments without these materials; 8 now, therefore, be it 9 10 RESOLVED, By the Student Government of Wright State University here 11 assembled, that: 12 (1) The university should provide the ODS Technology Center with more 13 resources to enable the Center to expedite the creation of academic 14 materials in alternative format including adding more full-time staff; 15 and 16 17 (2) Find a location for the Center that would accommodate more desktop computers, including laptops; and, be it 18 19 FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Student Government of Wright State University 20 here assembled, that: 21 (1) The university should implement strategies for retaining all 22 experienced part-time staff to reduce the time spent on training, and 23 (2) Consider a higher hourly pay to the small subset of employees who 24 25 26 can reformat technical and higher level textbooks, and (3) Approach organizations, companies and individuals in the community to help fund additional computers for the Center. 27 Introduced by Kenneth Burr, Spencer Brandon, and Cosponsor
