Definition of Large Class Size Resolution
Whereas the Curriculum Committee approves course maximum class size on the course
outline according to academic quality and integrity as established by faculty in the
discipline; and
Whereas the Curriculum Committee approves the offering of a ‘Large’ Class;
Resolved, that ‘Large’ is defined as a course that exceeds by 20% or more the current
maximum class size approved by the Curriculum Committee; and
Resolved, that any course offering a ‘Large’ class must have the instructor submit the
Large Class Size format form, with division/center approval, to the Curriculum
Committee for course approval every five years. This approval will be considered an
extension of the current course outline, and therefore each section of the course taught in
a Large-Class format must abide by the pedagogical methods described on the form.
