4959 version 4 Page 1 of 4 Record and monitor telecommunications resource utilisation Level 4 Credits 4 Purpose This unit standard is for people who are currently working, or who intend to work, in jobs which require monitoring and recording of resource utilisation; and applies to project, production, or operational managers. People assessed as competent in this unit standard are able to monitor and record all movements of resources within their area of responsibility, and the deployment and effective use of resources. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Record movement of resources. Performance criteria 1.1 Record of movement of resources is accurate and complete and complies with organisation policy and procedures. 1.2 Requisition orders are accurate and complete, and are received by stores personnel in agreed format and timeframes. Range authority for release of resources, budget code, part numbers, inventory numbers, colour, finish, hardware or software version; quantities; delivery sites (single or multiple), delivery dates and times. 1.3 Receipt of resources is recorded in the correct format and is received promptly by stores personnel. 1.4 Logistic status of inventoried resources allocated to area of responsibility is traceable at any time. Range 1.5 purpose, job number, physical location. Record of end-users, product identification, and status complies with legislation, is accurate and complete, and available to authorised persons. Range product identification – model, serial number, batch number; product status – warranty, rental, licensing or maintenance agreement; legislation – Consumer Guarantees Act; authorised persons – managers, service personnel, internal and external audit. Performance criteria 2.1 Monitoring of resource utilisation is accurate and complete and complies with organisation standards. Range 2.2 Changes to resource requirements are recorded in the correct format, approved by authorised persons, and surplus unit standards or additional requisitions are received promptly by stores personnel. Range 2.3 format – eg scrap dockets; changes – faults, damage, supply error, customer change of mind. Use and storage of resources complies with organisation policy and procedures and legislation. Range 2.4 quality assurance, ISO. Occupational Safety and Health, Dangerous Goods, environment protection. Contractor use of resources is verified as meeting job specifications and organisation safety and stock control procedures. Range on-site visits, physical, quality assurance, and financial audits. 2.5 Opportunities to improve monitoring of resource utilisation are identified and initiated with persons who have authority for action. 2.6 Documentation of resource utilisation is accurate and complete and is available to authorised persons. Range managers, budget controllers, internal and external audit. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
