People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: steel coating equipment; steel coating processes; and the measurement of performance in steel coating. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of steel coating equipment. Evidence requirements 1.1 The characteristics of steel coating equipment are described in terms of its function, operation, and application. Range 1.2 steel coating equipment may include but is not limited to – high speed continuous lines, coating, furnaces, ovens; evidence of two is required. Service support systems are explained in terms of the function and interrelationship with each other. Range 1.4 8334 version 3 Page 2 of 3 ancillary equipment may include but is not limited to – heat exchangers, air knives, sink rigs, coater application rolls, passline roll systems, roll-on pretreatment; evidence of three is required. The types and function of coating consumables are described in terms of company documentation. Range consumables may include but are not limited to – paint, gases, resins metals (zinc, aluminium), solvents, cleaners; evidence of three is required. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of steel coating processes. Evidence requirements 2.1 The characteristics of coating processes are described in terms of company documentation. Range 2.2 coating processes may include but are not limited to – paint, organic, metallic; evidence of two is required. The applications and implications of changes in coating composition are identified and described in terms of company documentation. Range coating composition may include but is not limited to – paint, organic, metallic; evidence of two is required. Outcome 3 Demonstrate knowledge of the measurement of performance of steel coating. Evidence requirements 3.1 The application and implications of performance indicators are identified and described in terms of company documentation. Range Competenz SSB Code 101571 performance indicators may include but are not limited to – plant utilisation, despatch performance, prime by first intent; evidence of three is required.
