Classification Joinery > Joinery Machining Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Machinery relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to – circular saws, radial saws, dimension saws, surface planer, thicknesser, mortiser, horizontal and vertical drill, spindle moulder, dust extraction systems. 2 Definitions routine – maintenance tasks which take place on a regular basis that a joinery machinist is able to complete; major faults – faults with bearings, electrical systems, or worn componentry. At this level, breakdowns and major faults are reported to senior staff. 3 All workplace practices must comply with current legislation, codes of practice, and documented site safety procedures for personal, product, and worksite safety. 4 Legislation and regulations relevant to this unit standard include but are not limited to – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995. Evidence requirements 1.1 Maintenance schedules are identified and outlined for systematic maintenance in accordance with workplace practice and manufacturer's specifications. Evidence requirements 2.1 Any faults in machinery are identified in accordance with workplace practice and manufacturer's specifications. 2.2 The process for reporting any major faults in machinery is identified and described in accordance with workplace practice. 2.3 Safety procedures are identified and described in terms of workplace practice and legislative requirements. 2.4 The process for replacing worn and/or damaged parts in portable air tools is described in terms of workplace practice and manufacturer's specifications.
